Because the left is so much more stupid than we even given them credit for there is this.
Another meme is making its way around the internet and it’s so incredibly moronic I actually researched to verify because someone can’t possibly be this incredibly stupid, ignorant and uninformed.
Unfortunately I found her and it’s true. Clearly she failed history class.
Never heard of Kimberly Johnson but her comments are an embarrassment. Apparently she writes at something called ‘Liberals Unite’. Not a very popular site on the internet. Now we know why.
And of course we have another one who believes in abortion on demand for any reason but, but, but… you can only have firearms for the intention of fighting the British if they are going to attack the country again.
This is a chick who probably thinks birth control is a right but protecting one’s living children is not.
Let’s take a look at her statement.
All rights listed in the Bill of Rights are listed out for individual people. From Heartland Institute:
Furthermore, the Second Amendment clearly identifies right as belonging to ‘the people.’ This identification clearly shows to whom the right belongs. As Justice Antonin Scalia pointed out in one of his most magisterial opinions:
“Nowhere else in the Constitution does a ‘right’ attributed to ‘the people’ refer to anything other than an individual right. What is more, in all six other provisions of the Constitution that mention ‘the people,’ the term unambiguously refers to all members of the political community, not an unspecified subset.”
If “the people” does not apply to all the individual citizens in the Second Amendment, then how can it do so for those other amendments? The meaning of the statement is clear, despite the obfuscation of progressive activism.
And as far as ‘militia’ goes:
The founders were also clear about what they meant by the term militia. Richard Henry Leestated it very succinctly: “A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves… and include all men capable of bearing arms.” In other words, whether a militia is the proper holder of arms or the people is irrelevant, because they are one and the same. Only by ignoring the words of the founders, as well as the basic rules of grammar, can the progressives’ case even appear valid. Once the ignorance is cured, their case crumbles to dust.
Leftists have been trying to make the ‘militia’ claim for years yet fail every time. Why? Because they don’t seem to understand that a militia was made up of individuals.
