You Have to See the Powerful Photo That Captured a SC Police Officer’s Act of Humanity During a KKK Rally

By on Monday, July 20, 2015

The Ku Klux Klan faced off with the New Black Panther Party Saturday at the South Carolina Statehouse to protest the recent decision to remove the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds.
The opposing groups threw rocks at one another at one point and five people were arrested and seven taken to hospitals by the end of the day.
But not everyone let the scorching heat and high tensions make them forget their humanity.

From TheBlaze:
A powerful photograph captured by photographer Rob Godfrey is quickly going viral on social media, showing a black police officer helping an elderly man, who is reportedly a member of the KKK group. According toMic, South Carolina Director of Public Safety Leroy Smith was helping the man to safety amid intense southern heat that was around 95-97 degrees Fahrenheit.
Those on Twitter have both condemned and praised Smith for his act of humanity.

It’s become way too common to see whites and blacks go at it with one another to incessantly bicker about whatever ‘racist’ issue comes up.

While the officer is just doing his job and is not likely a member of the New Black Panther Party (who nearly certainly would not do what he did), he still helped a neo-Nazi get cooled down and re-hydrate, just so the guy could get well enough to rejoin his friends and continue to argue the officer is a member of an inferior race.
The officer chose to keep his humanity and do the right thing to help a fellow human being — no matter their differences in beliefs.
Now that’s a message worth remembering.

  1. How is this a complaint by the 'left?' Protesting imagined satanic symbolism is something that is done by right-wing evangelical Christians.

  2. I see the Virgin Mary. And 666. And the color red.

  3. uh, the complain is one that would come from the "right", lefties don't give a shit a about satan

  4. So a woman thinks she sees 666 on a cake, says the cake is promoting satanism, and that makes her a crazy leftist? you silly rednecks, don't you remember that the leftists are the ones waging war on christianity?

  5. bingo. This is what they have started doing lately. "Insert something unreasonable here" stupid leftists.... Yet every single example of "leftists" has been a freaking republican or conservative. It's pretty amazying. So on the one hand, the leftist cake decorator was trying to promote satan as part of our leftist agenda, and at the same time, with the other hand they are removing the 10 commandments, requesting a true seperation of church and state, and are APPALLED at the fact that creationism is being taught in SCIENCE class. Even stupid rednecks can't possibly believe this garbage.

  6. People!! Stop allowing yourselves to be trapped in this phony Left-Right paradigm. It's total crap designed to provoke exactly the sort of reaction you have graciously provided.

We are not each others' enemy. Let's go after the 0.1% who are pitting us against each other. You know who they are!

  8. Lefties don't complain about '666'. That's more a righty thing. And upper management at Costco are not lefties, they are just bottom line watching capitalists, and if something looks like it's going to cost them money if a rumor catches on in a segment of their market (like fundie Christians) then they pull it without thinking. That's just business.

  10. You're so right -- the beginning of the text specifically says 'the left" when Ms. Eckerdt is clearly obsessed with Christian mythology and more likely on the far right than a leftist. I guess it's PC to accuse the left of being loony (talk about easy pickings) but a Christian loony gets a free pass.

  11. Jessica Eckerd shouldn't be allowed to have children,.. she's obviously insane and should be banned from ever having contact with anyone!

  12. Why is this about the left being activist??? Sounds to me like one of those stupid right-wing Christians making a fuss about 666 on their son's birthday cake. This incident is a great example of how the RIGHT can manage to make a fuss out of just about everything and somehow whine loud enough to win.

  14. "Literally, all they have to do is re-train the cake decorator." - No, they have to send this frootloop to a reputable psychiatrist.

  15. This is obviously one of those people who go over Disney/Pixar flixs frame by frame looking for "suggestive" pics. Overcome by eyestrain, she went to Costco looking for a cause.

As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon."
