If You Type This Offensive Search Term on Google Maps, It Will Take You Straight to the White House

More and more people are trusting online mapping software in order to provide them with valuable and timely information.
Sometimes, the results are outdated or inaccurate. But as Huffington Post points out, what comes up when a person types certain racial phrases into Google Maps’ search bar is downright deplorable.
For instance, when you enter “nig** house,” the service takes you to the White House:
When “n****r store” was entered by a user in Florida, a Walmart Supercenter appeared:
And for “n****r museum,” one user was led to the Jim Crow Museum in Big Rapids, Michigan:
These results were current as of Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. EST.

So how is Google reacting to this situation? Here’s what the company told HuffPo:
“Some inappropriate results are surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologise for any offence this may have caused. Our teams are working to fix this issue quickly.”
It’s not the first time that Google Maps has been compromised. A previous prank showed NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden in the White House:
