These photos make me wonder how today's children would fare in similar circumstances. We've all grown soft, pampered and ill prepared for hardship. My grandfather's generation (those born between 1890 and 1900) not only survived but somehow thrived during a childhood of work and hard knocks. God bless 'em all.
